Fun Filled Weekend

We definitely had a fun-filled weekend!  Knox attended his first birthday party, had his picture taken for Christmas cards and got to have a lazy Sunday of football with the Schuchs.

Kaylie was born 12 days before Knox, so her FIRST birthday party was this past weekend.  Kaylie's mom, Natalie, works with Keith, so that's how we know the Bolmon's.  Anywho, I was curious as to what Knox would do or how he would act.  Well, he had just a blast!  He had been around Kaylie when they were about 6 months old, at our Annual Memorial Day party, and he LOVED her then.  Well, time doesn't change this puppy love!  They just stood and grinned and giggled at each other.  They tried to hug, but it was more like bouncing and shaking each other.  So stinkin' cute!!!  The STILL love each other!  Other than loving on Kaylie, I think Knox throughly enjoyed seeing ALL the other people there.  Kaylie had tons of people there to help celebrate her first birthday.  Knox even helped Kaylie play with one of her toys.  As she was opening more gifts, Knox was trying out her pop-up toy--the same one he has at home that he just recently really started playing with.  So since the two love birds have so much fun playing together, I'm excited that they will be able to attend Knox's first birthday party!

Sunday morning, we decked Knox out in one of his studdly little outfits to attempt Christmas card pictures.  I say attempt, because the wild man won't sit still for anything!  The square in downtown McDonough has a sleigh attached to light up reindeer, oversized Christmas ornaments and a gigantic Christmas tree.  We had so much fun letting Knox run around ALL over the place, inspecting the ornaments and the giant tree.  I think I got 2/3 more pictures of the back of his head, than I did of the front.  I also had several pictures of just background due to the sheer speed of the wild man whizzing past the camera and my lack of keeping up.  :)  Thank goodness for continuous shoot, otherwise we won't have any decent pictures.  After 30-40 minutes of chasing Knox around, we headed over to Jeff and Bridgette's for a nice, lazy day of watching NFL.  We sat around eating yummy Mexican food Bridgette made, then made S'Mores in their real wood fireplace.  So cozy, with it turning into kind of a dreary day.

Oh and I forgot to mention that we started our Christmas decorating Saturday morning.  Keith almost has the lights on the house done and I finished the tree.  Knox was determined to take the ornaments off the tree as soon as I put them on, so I had to wait to naptime to finish.  He's much better now, but occasionally thinks the tree looks better with one less ornament.  :)  The tree mainly has ornaments on the top 2/3, but there are a few non-breakables at his arm's length.  He needs those few ones down there so he can learn NOT to take ornaments off everyone's tree that we see this year.  I'm thinking I'll wait until we get back from Turkey Day to attempt to set out anything else that he can reach.

The Lovebirds

See how he's grinning at her?!

She wore the shirt I made her! :)  Isn't she so cute in it?

Nat had a girl come in to do face painting.

Wild man dwarfed by the giant tree!

See how fun the oversized ornaments are?

My Little Technology Lover

Here I've been, worried sick, that my sweet baby boy isn't quite up to par with his "milestones".  He just clapped at 11 1/2 months, which many babies do at around 8 or 9 months.  Well, apparently everything is clicking upstairs, and more than we realized.

Keith is on his cell phone fairly often for work.  I'm on my cell phone fairly often because I'm a girl, and girls talk on the phone all the time.  Well, my little technology lover has been soaking up what you are supposed to do with the little silver thing Daddy lets him play with.  Tonight, while in my lap, Knox had Keith's cell phone waving it in the air like he normally does.  Next thing I know he puts it up to his EAR!  OH MY GOODNESS--he knows what to do with the stinkin' cell phone.  I put my phone up to my ear saying, "hello, hello Knox!" and he just grins.  So, I take it a step further and call Keith's cell.  Unfortunately, it was on vibrate, so he didn't get to "answer" it, but once I opened it and he could hear my voice, he didn't know what to do with himself!  It was great!!!  Once I closed the phone, he was determined to open it again.  Another funny moment.  He didn't know what to do to open the phone, so he sat there, squeezing it at hard as he could--his little body and arms just a-shakin', mouth clenched.  He did this over and over again, until Mommy opened it for him.  I tried to find the video camera to capture one of the most hilarious things ever, but it wasn't within reach.

So that's just another night in the life of Knox...

Quick Update

So, here's a few things I wanted to share:

Thing number one is that Norah Katherine Daily arrived on November 13th.  She weighed in at a scale toppling 7lbs 10oz, and measured 19 3/4 inches.  I hear that Mommy Tiff and baby are doing great.  That's all I know, since I haven't talked to the Mommy yet (hint, hint Tiffy!!!)  But I know how all that goes, and we weren't as fortunate, as the Daily's, to have family close by to pop in for visits.  A random few pictures are at the bottom of this post.

Thing number two would be that Knox is FINALLY starting to try to clap!  YAY!  He was waving quite often about a month ago, but that seems to have tapered off.  Over the weekend, when he got excited over something, he'd smile his big squinty-eyed smile and start shaking his hands.  Keith would mirror Knox's actions in all his glorified goofiness, and Knox would do it again.  Once I started clapping and praising him, he started clasping his hands like a clap.  Today, while watching one of his Baby Einstein videos, he started clapping at a part when they sing, "If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands."  It's so amazing to see things start to click in his precious little head, and to see how happy it makes him--and me for that matter!

Thing number three is that I have already started listening to Christmas music!  I know, I know.  But, I am the one that does start listening the day after Thanksgiving.  So, I found out today that XM/Sirius radio (on the TV) already has a station dedicated to Xmas music.  In my defense, Keith and I had already decided that we would have to start decorating for Christmas this coming weekend for the sheer fact that we don't have another weekend to get it done--next weekend is Turkey Day weekend, the following is Knox's BIRTHDAY weekend, then the weekend after that is the second weekend in December and it wouldn't be Christmas if we waited that late to decorate.  Besides, we'll be in AL/TN the third weekend, so it really would be too late.  Anyway, I feel justified, or at least like I'm not the only crazy person, since Keith attempted to get Knox to watch Polar Express two weekends ago (NOVEMBER 9th!), but I followed in his footsteps by watching Polar Express, Garfield Christmas and Claymation Christmas Sunday morning after Knox and I made pancakes while Daddy was hunting.  I have also seen many friends' status on Facebook that read something to the effect that they were decorating for Christmas over this past weekend.  So I'm not crazy.  Right?  :)

Wonderful Friday Surprise

I had a wonderful surprise this morning.  As I was getting Knox and myself ready to walk out the door at 7:30am for his second round flu shot, I received a text message.  The text was from one of my college best friends, and freshman year roommate, Ingrid, of who(m) I have mentioned in a previous post.  (The genius who informed me that expired coupons were still accepted at most stores!)  She asked if I wanted company, and if so, to call.  Well, I couldn't dial quick enough!  She came over with her two youngest children.  The oldest, Noah, is already in kindergarten.  I can't believe he's that big!!!

It was a crazy fun!  The kids were everywhere, but playing together.  Knox loved being around both Eli and Libby.  On top of that craziness, I was putting up groceries (from a last minute trip to Publix as we were out for Knox's shot) AND talking to Ingrid.  We had a fabulous lunch of Scooby Doo mac & cheese (50¢ Kraft boxes at Publix!) with a side of applesauce (also on sale at Pubix!)  We even served it out of the pot!  I love that Ingrid and I go back to the days of college microwave meals made in our dorm room.  She also knows that I'm not the best housekeeper, and a baby just adds to the mess I already make.  I only had to apologize once, for the lack of clean house.  Picked up, but not clean.  Anywho, the kids decided to make a quick venture outside, in between rain showers.  No real mud puddles to deal with, so we let them run loose.  Below are the few pictures I managed to snap between pots of macaroni and diaper changes!  I loved getting to see our kids run around together!  I also can't get over how much Eli looks like Scott, and Libby definitely has her Mommy's pretty eyes!

Random side note--Tiffany and Baby Norah are doing wonderfully.  The Daily family should be back at home tomorrow.  I'll post pictures of the happy new family over the weekend!

Ingrid's youngest, sweet Libby

The middle child, and all boy, Eli

Eli didn't quite know what to think of the practice deer--he thought it was real at first!

The only chance and shot I managed to get of all three kiddos--Knox is almost as tall as Libby!

My Latest Creation

Here's a few pictures of my latest creation.  Kaylie Bolmon will be one year old about two weeks before Knox.  Her birthday party will be Knox's first birthday party to attend, so I'm anxious to see what he attempts to do.  The latest creation is Kaylie's birthday present, which she will hopefully wear for part of her big day.  I know most candles don't have bows around the flame, but I wasn't digging my craftswomanship in that area so the bow is there for disguise!

More fabulous family time!

We spent another fabulous weekend with out-of-town guest...my parents!  We love when any friends come to visit us, but there's something about being with our family that is just so special.  It's probably the fact that we don't get to see them as often as we would like!

We had a nice, laid back fall weekend full of football and food.  Homemade chili, pot roast, and full breakfast were topped off with the victories of two of my favorite teams--The Alabama Crimson Tide and The Tennessee Titans!  Whoo-hoo!  Mom and I made a trip to the Dekalb Farmers Market, which I LOVE as I have mentioned before.  We had the fabulous lunch buffet, so we were pretty much stuffed for the day.  The whole fam still made it out for some dinner at Logan's on Sunday evening.  Like I said, a weekend full of food and not much else, other than enjoying each other's company.  Well, that along with Ma Jack and Big Daddy getting to see Knox's new tricks of screaming when he wants something or just because he can, and throwing little temper tantrums.  *sigh*  We did figure out if we talk really deep like Big Daddy, he wonders what in the world you are doing, and pipes down a notch or two.  :)

I'm sure I'll have some more exciting news by Thursday--one of my BFFs, Tiffany will be having her labor induced late Wednesday evening.  SO, sweet baby Norah should be here sometime Thursday!  Good luck, Tiff, and the Lamm-Rogers can't wait to meet her when we're home for Turkey Day!!!

H, A, Double-L, O, W, Double-E, N

The Lamm-Rogers Household had a wonderful Halloween!  Wild man was the cutest dragon ever, and he loved looking at all the other kids in their costumes.  He and I had a little photo shoot in his first halloween costume, with pictures posted below.

We also had a wonderful Halloween due to the visit of my little brother and his girlfriend, Lindsey.  It was the first visit Lindsey has made to the land of 'Hood.  We were blessed by their presence in honor of their one year dating anniversary, in addition to my pleasure of accompanying Lindsey, her mother and aunt to see the Broadway musical, Wicked, at the Fox Theater in Atlanta.  Lindsey makes it widely known that she is a Wicked freak, and I think I might just be joining the club.  It was phenomenal!!!  Of course I don't have anything to compare it to, since I've never seen a broadway, or off-broadway for that matter, play.  The set, costumes, singing, music, even the lines were out of this world!  I'm so glad that Brother and Lindsey got to spend Knox's first Halloween with us!!!

And just a quick update on the world of Knox.  He is cutting his sixth tooth, which had all the great side effects as all prior teeth.  We bought him a big-boy car seat yesterday, since he's getting so big, it's almost impossible to buckle him in!  It's not installed yet, but Daddy will get to do that when he gets home from work today.  As ready as I am for Wild Man to sit forward, I don't think I need to attempt at putting the seat in by myself while keeping an eye on Knox.  We had some issues in adjusting to the time change, but I'm sure it will get better in the next few days--hopefully.  And last but not least, we are getting geared up for Bug's FIRST BIRTHDAY.  It will be a puppy dog theme, since he loves laughing and playing with Lula and Chloe so much.  Mommy designed invites last night, and has been scouring the internet for inexpensive, fun ideas for his shin-dig.  I found some great ones, so I'm sure I'll fill you in after the big event!
